Keeping Well during COVID 19

Ways to Keep Mentally Well During COVID 19

With everything that is going on at the minute, here is a blog post with some ways to feel as normal as possible during this uncertain time!

1.       Routine.
Even though literally everything is up in the air at the moment, having a routine to stick to everyday will help to make things feel a bit more normal (if possible).
Waking up at the same time as pre-coronavirus pandemic rather than lying in bed to all hours of the afternoon (tempting as it may be) is a good start.

2.      Hobbies.
It’s important to keep your mind busy during this time. Having a hobby/something to take your mind off what is going on out there will help reduce anxiety and stress levels (and be a good distraction from the news).. It could be anything from arts & crafts to baking to puzzles! There are also so many good sites for binge watching- Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ (a new one).

3.      Exercise
Exercise is such a good way to clear your head and even if it is just using your 30 mins outdoor time for a quick walk, it’s a good way to get a change of scenery for a while and to stretch your legs. There are also loads of online work outs that can be done from home that you don’t need any equipment for!! Joe Wicks has been doing a live workout every morning at 9 (but you can do them whenever) which has been really popular!

4.       Keep in touch!!!
This one is so important! Staying in touch with friends/family during this pandemic will be beneficial to everyone- even if its just a quick text message. There are so many different ways to video-call too- Facetime or Google Duo are my favourite. Communicating with loved ones on a daily basis- whilst it’s not the same as seeing them face-to-face, is a good alternative and will help to keep spirits up.

5.      Self-care
Last but not least- self-care. With everything that is going on, it is vital that everyone looks after themselves to ensure they keep well both mentally and physically. This could be something as simple as drinking 2l of water every day, having some fruit/veg, or going to bed at a reasonable time. This is such an overwhelming time in life and some people may not feel up to getting much done and that’s okay too, just remember to take care of yourselves and stay safe.!

Thanks for reading everyone and I hope you and all your loved ones are all staying well and safe.
